The Ask
To highlight the individuality Vans brings to every pair of shoes with an innovative photo activation for their annual Checkerboard Day event.

The Process
TagPrints developed an original experience for an equally original brand. Two simultaneous activations, in Vans’ flagship stores in New York City and Chicago, created one cohesive mosaic wall. Guests in both stores posed for their best skater selfies and printed their favorite photos at our sharing stations. The outputs printed in both stores where the picture-turned-sticker would be placed onto its corresponding coordinate to create two identical giant 3 ft. x 5 ft. mosaic walls across the country–one in NYC and one in Chicago. Van fans could see their east coast or midwest counterparts in pieces of an epic checkerboard mosaic of a skateboarder in Vans.

The Experience
Vans and TagPrints brought Checkerboard Day to life with a custom mosaic that combined two of their largest markets in the U.S. for a commemorative and shareable experience.
